When starting snmpd with the following command line:
/usr/sbin/snmpd -D -p /var/run/snmpd.pid startup occurs
with out error.
/var/log/snmpd.log is empty.
How ever when started with : 'snmpd -f -L localhost:1161'
/usr/local/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf: line 160: Warning:
Unknown token: monitor-r.
IRC Snippet:
<al> How come that didn't show up with -D in the log file?
<rstory> well, it's not a debug token, so -D wouldn't
show it. as to why it isn't in the log... errr....
<rstory> i have a feeling that it happens at a point
during startup while it's still printing to stderr, but
after the fork, so it's not making it to the log</rstory></rstory></al>

No - errors in the config files *are* logged to file.
I'm suspicious that this might actually be two different
snmp agents - looking in different snmpd.conf files
What happens if you try
/usr/sbin/snmpd -f -L localhost:1161
